about Roger
Roger is part of a group of researchers conducting an annual check-up on a group of islands where biological productivity is at its peak. These Islands are set against the Antarctic Peninsula which juts far up into the south Pacific, diverting the circumpolar current to Its furthest extent north. He and his colleagues monitor the massive amounts of krill (a 2 inch cousin of the shrimp, only much more numerous) that pass through the area. They also monitor the health of large colonies of penguins and seals that breed on the islands and feed on the krill during the austral spring and summer. They also measure the productivity of the sea algae upon which the krill themselves feed.
