notes from the field
Roger is our field correspondant in Antarctica.

When he takes breaks from counting penguins, he writes observations about life in a Discovery-channel-ish adventure.

Roger's submissions are sent via satalite e-mail.

He and his colleagues monitor the massive amounts of krill (a 2 inch cousin of the shrimp, only much more numerous) that pass an area in the Antarctic Peninsula. They also monitor the health of large colonies of penguins and seals that breed on the islands and feed on the krill during the austral spring and summer.
