3.20.2002 After a wonderful lunch with Barbarella and friends, I dropped by Grandpa's new pad to help him with the 'puter. Something was wacky with his email and with his tech know-how, he figured it might be an evil elf living in the machine. I helped him post a new entry to his Diary. Tomorrow I'm meeting him for a soak in the hot tub. Every day for decades, Grandpa has had a soak (or a sit in a sauna). He uses it as a time to pray for each member of his family. Last time I visited he pointed to the wall at an imaginary map of the world. He would speak of each person as he pointed to where they lived on the "map" moving left to right from west coast to east coast...family member to family member. Not "pray" in the sense that he prays for their soul...just that he puts them in mind and surrounds them with loving thoughts. I don't care WHAT your religious beliefs are...It feels good to be surrounded in loving thoughts.

After reading a Details magazine about exclusive NY sex clubs, I contacted the woman who throws the events. After a nice email exchange, she's considering having a Globalgasm-themed event in the future. How cool!!! I told her that "We are fighting different battles in the same war."

3.19.2002 trippy...while writing this morning, Talking Heads became a theme in the latest wrds piece. An hour later I heard on the radio that Talking Heads were inducted into the Hall of Fame last night. (Rock Hall of Fame, I guess...but Baseball Hall of Fame would make a better story.)

I went to Deron's art opening yesterday. Great paintings and great people. I even wore a suit! I'm still trying to focus my post-SXSW energy. I did *some* writing today...but not enough to be pleased with myself. I suppose I'll continue with the "more masturbating" plan until further notice.

A wrds post about the people of SXSW It was a hug-filled few days for me. While onstage at the awards show, I basically begged everyone there to hug me. After I forcefully involved them all (and my fellow CXers) in a Virtual Hug at the end of the awards show, many made a point to stop me in the halls for an embrace. It was wonderful. I hope I have chances to hug all the wonderful people many, many more times.

So, I voted yesterday. And the only real black-and-white issue to me was the motion to ban drinking on the beach. I was vehemently opposed. And to everyone who thinks their vote doesn't matter: Thanks to a 51% majority, you can no longer enjoy wine at sunset on San Diego public beaches. Pardon my french, but that sucks ass.

3.4.2002 The latest Fray story inspired me to remember... She was the one we always picked on. We were just playing, right? I didn't physically hold her. Or tie any of the knots. But I didn’t even attempt to swim against the cruelty. Not even a stroke. Eventually our swarm of blacktop bullies bored of their tormenting and returned to class. I untied her. I think we both pretended that my post-violence act of “kindness” made me less of a demon.

If you're going to SXSW, make sure I give you a cockybastard sticker/bookmarket. Got 'em in the mail today from 1800postcards.com. Stick-tacular! I changed the design a bit, buit they look sorta like this.

There is a club called Halcyon. They have some cool T-shirts, but they're $50. I'll have to design my own.

3.3.2002 the weekend has been good. But what did I do? I leave for SXSW in less than a week.

3.2.2002 Globalgasm was awesome. Several people dressed up for it on cam, including one Snow White costume! We made 9pm the target "liftoff" time. I was off by about 5 min. :)
